Item Description

Stick used by Toronto Maple Leafs all-star forward Auston Matthews during a portion of the 2021-22 National Hockey League season, including the night of April 2nd, 2022 vs the Philadelphia Flyers while recording his 51st goal of the season, and 250th of his NHL career, which came at 7:41 of the 3rd period on assists from Maple Leafs Mitch Marner and Morgan Rielly in a 6-3 win over the Flyers. Skating in his just his 397th NHL game, Matthews became the 8th quickest player to record 250 NHL career goals, behind only Wayne Gretzky (302), Mike Bossy (315), Mario Lemieux (324), Brett Hull (328), Alex Ovechkin (366), Teemu Selanne (388) and Jari Kurri (389). In 2021-22, Matthews would become the first Maple Leaf to score 60 in a season, shattering the franchise single season goal record previously set by Rick Vaive (54) in 1981-82, securing his second straight Rocket Richard trophy as the NHL's leading goal scorer, joining Ovechkin and Pavel Bure as the only players to win the Rocket in back to back seasons since originally being awarded in 1998-99. On June 21st, 2022, Auston Matthews was awarded the Ted Lindsay Award, as the NHL's Most Outstanding Player judged by the NHLPA, as well as the Hart Memorial Trophy, as the NHL's Most Valuable Player throughout the 2021-22 NHL season, joining Ted Kennedy (1954-55) and Babe Pratt (1943-44) as the only Maple Leafs to win the Hart since originally being awarded in 1923-24. Matthews' CCM Jetspeed FT4 stick features custom Toronto Skyline graphics, displays "Apr 2 vs PHI" & a #34 on the knob, both marked by Auston, solid game wear that is photo-matched to Auston celebrating a late 3rd period Morgan Rielly goal, missing blade tape that was removed by Auston after the game, is labelled "51st goal stick" by team equipment staff and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
