Matthews was also awarded the Ted Lindsay Award, as the NHL's Most Outstanding Player judged by the NHLPA, as well as the Hart Memorial Trophy, as the NHL's Most Valuable Player throughout the 2021-22 NHL season, joining Ted Kennedy (1954-55) and Babe Pratt (1943-44) as the only Maple Leafs to win the Hart since originally being awarded in 1923-24.
