Item Description

Gloves worn by Toronto Maple Leafs all-star forward Auston Matthews during a portion of the 2021-22 National Hockey League season, including the night of April 7th, 2022 vs the Dallas Stars while recording his 55th goal of the season, breaking the 40 year old franchise single season goal record of 54 which was previously held by Rick Vaive since the 1981-82 NHL season. Matthews would go on to score the game's overtime winning goal, securing a 3-2 win over the Stars, marking his 56th goal of the season which surpassed Jimmy Carson (55 in 1987-88) and Kevin Stevens (55 in 1992-93) for the most goals scored in an NHL season by a player born in the United States. In 2021-22, Matthews would become the first Maple Leaf to score 60 in a season, securing his second straight Rocket Richard trophy as the NHL's leading goal scorer, joining Alex Ovechkin and Pavel Bure as the only players to win the Rocket in back to back seasons since originally being awarded in 1998-99. On June 21st, 2022, Auston Matthews was awarded the Ted Lindsay Award, as the NHL's Most Outstanding Player judged by the NHLPA, as well as the Hart Memorial Trophy, as the NHL's Most Valuable Player throughout the 2021-22 NHL season, joining Ted Kennedy (1954-55) and Babe Pratt (1943-44) as the only Maple Leafs to win the Hart since originally being awarded in 1923-24. Matthews' record breaking set of CCM Jetspeed FT1 gloves display a smiley face marked inside each palm by Auston, light game wear and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
